Robert Burke, MD, MS

Associate Professor

Dr. Robert Burke is a hospitalist, or physician that specializes in managing the care of patients within the hospital. He is the Director of Research for the Section of Hospital Medicine and a Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. Dr. Burke also works as a Core Investigator at the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center where he also practices clinical medicine.  He joined the Section in 2018 and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Tenure Track at the Perelman School of Medicine.  His interests include transitions of care in vulnerable populations, the impact of value-based purchasing on outcomes and costs, implementation science, and quality improvement.

Dr. Burke earned his medical degree from Stanford University, and completed a Masters in Clinical Sciences from the University of Colorado.  He completed his medicine internship and residency at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and a fellowship in Health and Aging Policy.
